Nathan Shirley has received one national and five international awards for his compositions beginning at age 21, and he has performed his music in Europe and the US.

Dr. Teresa Sumpter will conduct a Student Master Class

Dr. Teresa Sumpter is currently an Assistant Professor of Piano and Coordinator of Keyboard Studies at Mars Hill College where she teaches applied piano, group piano, and music theory.

Dr. Daniel Weiser presents The Visual Stimulus: Composers and Painters in Paris from 1870-1930.

Location: First Baptist Church Crocker Auditorium, Asheville, NC

Daniel Weiser, piano, has a Doctorate in Piano/Chamber Music from the Peabody Conservatory, where he studied with Samuel Sanders and Robert MacDonald and won the Richard Franko Goldman prize for outstanding contribution to musical and education life.

Don't Worry, Make Music: Practical Solutions for Effective Stress-free Performance Preparation
A lecture and mini-recital including works by NC composers.

Ruskin Cooper is active as a recitalist, chamber musician, teacher, clinician, and adjudicator. He has given solo recitals throughout the Southeast, as well as in Germany, Italy, Poland, and Mexico.

Piano Music of the African Diaspora
Location: New Hope Presbyterian Church

Kimberly Cann is a concert pianist, teacher, and social advocate, leading efforts to start music education programs for children in need. In 2006, following graduate work at the Eastman School of Music, she accepted the positions of visiting Professor of Music and Artist-in-Residence at Northern Caribbean University (Jamaica).
